Worthmaking
10 years in the making, Worthmaking is a feature documentary about the search for identity, purpose and meaning in a world that increasingly struggles to offer any.
For generations, we've defined ourselves by what we do. Our careers, achievements and status have become our identities. But as artificial intelligence, automation and changing economies begin to reshape work itself, millions are left facing an uncomfortable question:
Who are we when our work no longer defines us?
Through intimate conversations with artists, makers, entrepreneurs, craftspeople and obsessive creators, Worthmaking explores why humans devote their lives to seemingly irrational passions. What drives someone to spend decades perfecting a skill that may never make them wealthy? Why do we create at all?
Woven throughout is the filmmaker's own struggle with depression, self-worth and identity, asking whether creativity is really about talent, or simply our search for significance.
Rather than offering easy answers, the film uncovers a simple truth: our value has never come from what we produce, but from our capacity to create meaning, connect with others and leave the world a little better than we found it.
At a moment when machines are becoming capable of doing almost everything we once believed made us uniquely human, Worthmaking asks perhaps the most important question of the century:
What, ultimately, makes a human life worth making?
